“What is the best car in the world?” An innocuous question which is no doubt asked by thousands of curious young children; but to the ‘Wood’ brothers, Paul and Andrew, when their father answered “Rolls-Royce” it created an indelible impression on the boys, sparking a lifelong passion and obsession to maintain, restore and eventually sell the most alluring vehicles on the planet.
Paul and Andrew Wood are genuine enthusiasts and are justly proud of the company they founded in 1967. Specialising solely on Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars, the duo spent countless hours restoring and maintaining classic models, many of which were winners at the famous London Concours and took pride of place in many famous collections over the years. P&A Wood pride themselves for absolute and uncompromising ‘attention to detail’ in their Rolls-Royce and Bentley restorations and it is for these the company is best known.
Touring the facilities at P&A Wood, there’s a grace and striking charisma that draws you into the heritage models – it’s easy to see why classic cars have become one of the ultimate indulgent ways to invest wealth in the 21st Century.
Private ownership offers these remarkable vehicles the chance to live on in all their glory and it’s heartwarming to see such important and famous cars being restored in the workshop.
Restorations are completed with such authenticity that it can comfortably take two years to get a vintage model back to showroom condition, as such P&A Wood sell more hours work than any other official dealer in the world.
Every inch of the workshop is meticulously clean, from the Machine Shop that helps manufacture complex replacement parts, to service bays and even the Merlin Engine Workshop, where they overhaul the famous V12 Rolls-Royce aero engines on site back to flying condition for use in genuine Spitfires still flying today.
With perfection as the benchmark, today Paul’s daughter, Georgina Wood and her team, are custodians of her family legacy as world leaders in Rolls-Royce and Bentley restorations and the official accident repair centre for Rolls-Royce in the UK, providing support to customers around the world.
Despite Georgina’s obvious love for vintage restorations, you can’t help but notice her infectious passion for the glamorous brand new Rolls-Royce models. From the P&A Wood showroom in the village of Great Easton, just outside London Stansted, you can explore the entire, unmistakeable current Rolls-Royce range. Whether you’re interested in seeing the newly released V12 Ghost in the flesh or the latest Cullinan SUV, you can leisurely browse samples of paint and leather to make the vehicle your own.
And if that’s not quite exclusive enough, P&A Wood offer their limited edition signature range, celebrating 50 years of time-honoured coachworking skills, to provide you with a one of a kind vision of motoring perfection.
