Financial Controller - West Horsley

Reporting to the Managing Director

Salary 30 hours per week flexible TBC

As the major independent Estate Agent in Surrey (21 offices), we now have an exciting opportunity to join the team at Curchods helping support the senior management, providing a first class accounting function to the group of companies and contribute to the MIS of the business.

  • You will manage a team of 5 individuals in an idyllic location in rural Surrey
  • Key Responsibilities of the controller role
  • Responsible for the preparation of the monthly management accounts and forecasts
  • Management of the month end process
  • Supervision of all accounting processes including all Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Lead the group’s reporting and control activities in a timely and efficient manner in line with best practice
  • Manage the cash flows of the business co-ordinating with senior management and bank relationships to optimise working capital of the group
  • Preparation and co-ordination with the external auditors on year end reporting ( April year end)
  • Preparation of the VAT returns in compliance with legislation
  • Co-ordination of Corporation Tax computations with the external auditors
  • Preparation of the annual budgets and updated forecasts in co-ordination with senior management
  • Supervision and production of appropriate management information 
  • Challenge with the usage of Financial information and benchmark against similar business senior management performance across the group
  • Ensure full statutory compliance of financial matters
  • Supervise the payroll function and the declarations of employee benefits
  • Undertake as necessary specific projects

Qualities Required

A qualified accountant with experience of multi site organisations ideally with an Estate Agency background, but not essential. Excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible hands on approach with an appreciation of the need to support those working at the front line of the business. 

Strong IT skills with core competencies in Microsoft software
