We’re celebrating 30 years at our East Horsley office on Bishopsmead Parade in 2026, marking a significant milestone in what now represents five decades of estate agency service across the Horsley, Clandon and Effingham communities.
Whilst the Curchods name has been established locally since 1996, our roots in East Horsley date back to 1976. That year, Joint Senior Partner John Slatter opened The Estate Office at 12 Bishopsmead Parade under the name of Bridgers Estate Agents. Three decades on from the opening of our Curchods East Horsley office, the company remains a constant and visible presence in the area – from our Bishopsmead Parade office to the familiar for sale and sold boards outside local homes and across neighbouring towns, as part of a network that now spans 25 offices across Surrey and South West London. Our involvement in the community is equally well established through continued support of local schools, businesses, events and sports clubs, including sponsorship of East Horsley Cricket Club.

Property values in KT24 since 1996
To mark the anniversary, we’ve been reflecting on how the local property market has evolved over the past 30 years. Land Registry data shows that in 1996, 180 properties were sold in KT24 at an average price of £200,695. By 2025, the average sale price had risen to £1,018,340.80 -five times higher than they were three decades ago.*
Beyond price growth, the market has transformed in many other ways, from the rise of digital marketing and online portals to shifting buyer priorities and changing patterns of home ownership. Yet despite these developments, the core principles of our business have remained consistent.
Adam Sutton, Branch Manager of Curchods East Horsley, commented:
“To have 30 years of estate agency history in one village is something we are incredibly proud of. While marketing methods and property values have changed significantly over the decades, the importance of trusted advice, discretion and strong local relationships has remained constant. Our longevity is built on understanding the community and delivering a personal service that clients can rely on.”
John Slatter, Joint Senior Partner, added:
“When I opened The Estate Office at 12 Bishopsmead Parade in 1976, I could not have imagined the journey ahead. We have had the privilege of assisting several generations of families with their moves within the area and that continuity is something very few businesses experience. I am immensely proud that, 50 years later, we are still here, still independent and still committed to serving the people of The Horsleys, Clandons and Effingham.”

Celebrating with the Community
To commemorate the 30-year anniversary under the Curchods name, our team will host a special celebration event at the Bishopsmead Parade office in June, bringing together clients, local residents and community partners.
Throughout the year, the Curchods East Horsley team will support a range of local events and initiatives as part of the anniversary programme, reinforcing the firm’s long-term commitment to the local community it has served for several decades.
In addition, the team will delve into the company archives to highlight how both the business and local property market have evolved. Plans include sharing a collection of historic images, reconnecting with homeowners who purchased their properties in 1996 and inviting long-standing residents to share their memories of how The Horsleys, Clandons and Effingham have changed over the past three decades. Further anniversary activities will be announced in due course.
