Full Description

Until the end of the 19th century Pharaoh's Island was formally known, as ‘Dog Ait' acquiring its name following the construction of the ‘The Sphinx' being first house on the island commissioned by Sir Cyril Atkinson, an English High Court Judge and Conservative Party politician, who's hobbies included Egyptology. Subsequent properties on the island followed were named in the Egyptian theme, so the island was renamed Pharaoh's Island. Over the years the island has also played host to a number of celebrities, artists and notorieties, who appreciate the privacy and seclusion offered by its boat only access.

Maleesh, is a brick built bungalow constructed in 1977, to replace the existing boat house, and was later extended in 1999 to now provide 975 sq.ft (90.58 sq.m) of living space situated in a prime position on the island with fine views over this picturesque stretch of the river and the Towpath. The light and spacious accommodation has a contemporary feel with a large open plan, triple aspect living space with bi-fold and patio doors opening onto a raised riverside terrace, flooding the room with natural light. Adjoining is the kitchen that is a lovely light and sunny area, fitted with a range of white fronted units inset with an integrated halogen hob, cooker hood and oven. Provision has been made for a washing machine and fridge/freezer. A door leads off the rear of the living room into a lobby that separates the bedroom accommodation. The two double bedrooms have built in wardrobes; the third is a good-sized single room and all share a family bathroom. Services: The property is connected to all main services. Parking: There is a small resident's carpark adjoining the communal landing stage on the Shepperton bank. Council Tax
