Description

Sitting in a lovely semi rural position just outside Ripley village this is a wonderful period cottage of beautiful brick elevations that retains a very appealing sense of its original character. Over the last few years the house has been cleverly extended and sympathetically renovated and now has a very pleasing balance between the feel of the original building and the conveniences of a modern home.

On the ground floor all of the rooms lead from a welcoming reception hall where at one end is a cloakroom / shower room. The sitting room is a lovely, bright triple aspect space with double doors at one end that lead out onto the sun terrace and garden beyond. On the other side the family room has an original corner fireplace and could equally well be used as a formal dining room if preferred. The kitchen is on the back of the house and is fitted out with a collection of modern units and several integrated appliances and also has a door out to the terrace which means that it works very well with the garden during the summer.

Upstairs the four bedrooms all have an equally comfortable feel to them with a large master bedroom that has a bright double aspect, an exposed brick wall and a superb vaulted ceiling along with its own en suite bathroom. Across the landing there are three further bedrooms and a large and well fitted out family bathroom.

All in all this is a wonderful period home that sits in a great location within just a short walk of the village green and High Street.

  • Four bedroom, extended, semi-detached, family, period cottage
  • Separate dining room and lounge
  • Downstairs shower room, upstairs family bathroom and en-suite to master bedroom
  • Stunning rural setting
  • Gated off road parking for ample cars

Garden and Exterior

The house sits nicely back from the road behind a picket fence and a pretty front garden. At the back there are double gates that lead to a driveway where there is room for several cars to be parked.

Adjacent to the back of the house there is a sun terrace which makes the ideal spot to eat outside during the summer months while off to one side of this is a very useful brick built utility / storage room. The remainder of the garden is mainly lawned and well enclosed by a collection of mature hedges and trees all of which gives it a very secluded and pleasing setting that very much adds to the pleasure of the house as a whole. There is an additional section of garden that can be rented for a minimal cost per year.

Location

The historic village of Ripley is situated in a very accessible and convenient location just off the A3 north of Guildford. It is a village with a great deal of local history that comes through in the string of beautiful period buildings that line the high street and which give it such a pleasing feel. The High Street is surprisingly well stocked with local shops that very much cater for everyday needs and has a number of traditional pubs as well as several restaurants. Once a month there is a very popular farmers' market on the green which is purported to be one of the largest in England and where the local cricket club also resides. When you are in need of something more comprehensive the beautiful county town of Guildford is just a short drive away with its historic cobbled high street while in the other direction the A3 will take you into London and also connects with the M25 giving access to Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Ripley, as a whole, is surrounded by miles of open countryside much of which is on the doorstep where you can walk along local footpaths and waterways. A short drive from the house will take you into the Surrey Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
