Description

The name “2 Lime Tree Cottages ” conjures a romantic chocolate box cottage set behind a picket fence, nestled within a quintessential English village. If this is the picture that your imagination portrays, you will not be disappointed. For this is a beautiful example of a period home dating back to Late 1800 century, complete with open fireplaces, exposed floor boards and beams. The property was modernised and a rear extension added in 1999, which makes this today into a practical home with modern day comforts, whilst still retaining its wealth of character and charm. The well-proportioned accommodation provides a versatile layout with three reception rooms, three double bedrooms and two bathrooms. An entrance lobby opens into both the sitting room and front parlour. The latter sets the scene with its open exposed brick fireplace, stripped pine floorboards and exposed beams. To one side is a useful cloaks/storage cupboard, enabling the room to be used as a separate dining room or second sitting room. The original sitting room is pretty room full of character, again with exposed brick fireplace, stripped pine floorboards, beamed ceiling and to either side of the fireplace are built-in storage cupboards. The rear extension now forms the hub of the home, providing a large living space with 2 sets of French doors opening onto the pretty westerly backing garden. The kitchen has an exposed brick fireplace and ceiling beams giving it a rustic feel, enhanced by a range of hand painted units incorporating vegetable baskets and china cupboards with an integrated refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, microwave and range style cooker. The main bathroom is attractively fitted with a 3 piece white suite incorporating a thermostatic shower over the bath and with plumbing for laundry appliances. To the1st floor are 3 double bedrooms, the master being of a generous sized double with an en-suite shower room and a deep built in wardrobe. Council Tax Band: F

During the restoration of which, a pistol was found hidden in the rafters with the inscription "Dick's friend". Today the area is more renowned for its beauty and a lovely spot to while away a few hours in the reputable selection of friendly riverside bars and excellent restaurants.
